is
the second purchase, a complete SL-1200 mkII. This deck is the tool of
choice for DJ's the world over, but most people forget it started life
as a HiFi product and only gained DJ features like pitch fader in MkII
guise. Technics responded to market influences, DJ's couldn't get
enough of it so they exploited that with features aimed specifically at that
sector. This one had a fair amount of use in that role but the bearing
seems ok and the platter runs true. I will transfer parts from this to
the modified Top Plate when it's ready. I was pleasantly surprised at how good this deck sounds in standard spec. |
